Since 2022/2023, I have been an Air Force Junior ROTC cadet at Etowah High School. It has been a very rewarding experience both in my leadership skills, but also in my physical capabilities.
During my freshman year of high school, I became a die hard JROTC kid. I participated in volunteer work, if time permitted, I joined the RAIDERS team, the Orienteering team, went to the Aero Club meetings, and did my best in the classroom. Due to these efforts, I got to go to the RAIDERS national championship where my team placed 4th overall, I went to the Orienteering national championship where I became an Orienteering Champion, and later on I got the position as Deputy Aero Club Commander for my Sophomore year of high school.
In my Sophomore year, my JROTC unit (GA-958) received four flight simulators, in which I would teach cadets how to fly in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 (this is where my job as Deputy Aero Club Commander would see the most action). That year I also became a Flight Commander for Delta Flight (7th period) where I would manage a classroom of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year cadets in teaching all of the newbies appropriate Dress and Appearance, AFJROTC Ranks and Ribbons, and the Air Force Junior ROTC Creed.
Which brings us to today, my Junior year of high school. My responsibilities have increased to where now I am now the fully fledged Aero Club Commander overseeing the execution of the Recreational Drones module of Aero Club. In the classroom, I am the Aero Commander where our Lt. Colonel would teach the Science of Flight and I assist by teaching cadets how to fly. Then finally, I went from teaching cadets, to creating the lessons for flight commanders to use to teach during their class.
